The TVS-873 is around the maximum I have allocated in the budget for the NAS, as I will need a bunch of 8TB disks as well.Īre there other options or is this indeed the best option for me?

Most of the files on the server are 3-8.000 bitrate. Sometimes on Sundays this number can be 3 transcoding streams when people are browsing from their iPads (maybe in the future 4). My question is, will this QNAP be sufficient for my needs? Most of the time there will be 1-4 people streaming from the server and usually no more than 2 people transcoding these streams. A passmark score of nearly 5000 (over 3 times as much as the HP I have now, which could barely squeeze by with 3 streams and 1-2 transcodes).

After a lot of research regarding my new NAS (currently have an old HP ProLiant Gen7) for my Plex Media Server I found the TVS-873.Īs far as I can tell it has a pretty good CPU (or APU as AMD likes to call it) for my needs.
